Friend or Foe? Weed Lookalikes Workshop

30 March 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Do you know how to tell a European Blackberry apart from a Native Raspberry? Would you know a rare Muttonwood tree if you came across one while weeding Sweet Pittosporum? Do you know your Sallow Wattle from your Blackwood?

Many of our indigenous plant species are often mistaken as weeds? Plant identification skills are an important skill to ensure our precious biodiversity is not inadvertently lost during weed control efforts.

If you would like to find out more about common lookalike species to confidently identify plant pests and indigenous species commonly mistaken as weeds, you are warmly invited to participate in this informative and interactive workshop where you will learn about:

• Features, tips and tricks to help identify plant species

• A selection of native plants commonly mistaken for weeds

• Serious weeds & what to look out for

• Where to get ongoing support in your plant identification

There will be coffee and morning tea provided.

Cost: Free

Partnering to tackle Pests on the Peninsula – a Landcare approach is supported by the Victorian Government through the Partnerships Against Pests program.
