Develop an Integrated and Coordinated Pest Animal Program
23 March @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeInvasive pest animals are a big problem impacting on biodiversity and catchment assets and farm productivity on the Mornington Peninsula. Whether its introduced predators such as foxes or feral cats, or introduced herbivivores such as rabbits or deer, it is important to have a strategic approach to pest management.
The strategic approach promotes coordinated action that aims to reduce the damage caused by pests to an acceptable level in order to achieve a desired outcome (e.g. improved agricultural production or to conserve biodiversity).
Learn about the key principles that form the basis of the strategic approach in order to plan and carry out pest animal management:
- What is a pest?
- Is eradication possible?
- A whole of system approach
- Planning and Monitoring
Through this process of defining what the pest problem is and working out what outcome stakeholders want as a result of doing pest management, you will have the skills to implement an effective plan of action to manage pest animal damage.
Cost: Free – coffee and morning tea provided.
