Biological Farming with Dr Mary Cole

10 May @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

Our next MP farmer discussion is an exciting talk and presentation from a pioneer and leader in
the field of biological farming, Dr. Mary Cole. Dr. Cole founded AgPath in 1980, a small soil
biology company providing laboratory testing in many fields of fungal and microbial pathology
and farming consulting services in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, environment air and
water and food manufacturing. Dr. Cole will talk with you about the fundamentals of biological
farming, including the Soil Food Web, soil management practices, managing worm farms and
relevant research. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about biological farming from one of
the world’s experts.

Dr. Cole is a well-known academic, plant pathologist and soil microbiologist who provides
instruction and workshops/courses in biological non-chemical/sustainable agricultural farming
practices to farmers, students, and consultants around the world. She works closely with Elaine
Ingham of the Soil Food Web and her research is being used to inform legislation around
biological farming in Victoria. As an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne she
supervises PhD students and her lab, AgPath P/L, provides summer vacation experiences in soil
microbiology and composting for graduates of Victorian and interstate universities.
