Coastal Nature Walk and Explore at Koonya Ocean Beach

20 January @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join the Blairgowrie Friends of Mornington Peninsula National Park for a nature walk and explore along the local coastline!

This environmental walk will take place in the Mornington Peninsula National Park around Koonya Ocean Beach. It will explore the home of Hooded Plovers, southern long-nosed bandicoots, Blue-tongued skinks, and many other iconic local native birds, animals, and plants.

The walk will follow the historic Peninsula Life-saving Track over the undulating coastal dune landscape from sheltered grasslands and protective scrub to the exposed cliffs and Koonya Ocean Beach.

Koonya Ocean Beach is home to numerous uncommon, rare, and endangered animal and plant communities. Volunteers from two active local environmental friend groups, Blairgowrie Friends of Mornington Peninsula National Park and Friends of the Hooded Plover, will provide expert guidance.
