SUMMARY:Cultural Heritage Induction Field Day with Bunurong Land Council
DESCRIPTION:—REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED— \nJoin us for a Cultural Heritage Induction field day in Shoreham\, led by Bunurong Land Council\, who will guide the Landcare community to recognise Cultural Heritage objects when undertaking weed or pest animal control along the coast or in bushland settings. \nParticipants will learn about the objects’ Cultural significance to Traditional Owners and find out how to protect them. \nDress for the conditions\, including closed-toe sturdy footwear and BYO sunscreen. \nLight refreshments from Indigenous organisation ‘Djambana Catering’ will be served at the end of the induction. \nThe Mornington Peninsula Landcare Network acknowledges the Bunurong people\, who have been the custodians of this land for many thousands of years; and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge that the land on which we meet is the place of age-old ceremonies\, celebrations\, initiation and renewal; and that the Bunurong people’s living culture continues to have a unique role in the life of this region. \nPartnering to tackle Pests on the Peninsula – a Landcare approach is supported by the Victorian Government through the Partnerships Against Pests program. \nBookings are essential: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/cultural-heritage-induction-field-day-with-bunurong-land-council-tickets-1613325312439?aff=oddtdtcreator \nVenue in Shoreham given on registration

SUMMARY:Managing Blackberry and other Weeds - Talk and Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Talking to us is Dr Robin Adair\, a Victorian Blackberry Taskforce member\, who will discuss blackberry management on farms and the latest blackberry policy and news\, as well as provide a demonstration of spray techniques (using water) and using drones. We also have Anton Vigenser\, the Operations Manager from Seeds\, who will be talking about a range of other priority weeds on farms and recommended management approaches. This talk is relevant to all farmers as well as urban interface landholders and owners of bush blocks. \nManaging blackberry is long-term and cannot be achieved by one-off strategies\, particularly for larger infestations. The three main management options available for blackberry include physical control\, biological control and herbicides. The VBT is committed to working with communities and partner agencies to reduce the growth and spread of blackberry in Victoria. \nAlong with blackberry are a wide range of invasive weeds that land managers must be aware of and manage accordingly\, including Thistles\, Cape Weed\, Ragwort\, Gorse\, Pittosporums and Karamu. Seeds is a specialist bushland restoration company with extensive expertise and experience in weed management on farms and ecosystem reconstruction techniques. \nFor all event information\, please see the attached flyer or this email. \nWhere:              Tanglewood Estate\, 60 Bulldog Creek Rd\, Dromana (parking onsite) \nWhen:               Saturday 4th October 2025\nTime:                 9.30am – 10.00am: arrivals\, coffee/tea and introductions\n10.00am – 12.45pm: talks and demonstration followed by a light lunch \nTea\, coffee and a light lunch will be provided (let me know of any food allergies). Please bring appropriate footwear for the demonstration and wet weather gear if required. \nParking instructions:\nOnsite. \nPlease RSVP by Thursday the 2nd of October at thomas@regeneratingfarms.com.au or call Thomas on 0499 596 493 for any questions. \nResources: \n\nVictorian Blackberry Taskforce:click here\nSeeds Bushland Restoration: click here

SUMMARY:Blairgowrie Friends of MPNP - Sorrento Environment Circle
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 18 September at 5pm we are presenting to the Sorrento Environment Circle (Sorrento RSL\, Hurley St) on the reasons why the never-will-be-built MP Freeway extension land between Boneo and Canterbury Jetty Roads should be given back to the community so that we can turn it into a new Peninsula Biolink and a gravel walking and cycling path. \nWe are very keen to build broad community support for this project\, which is long overdue and would be a far better and more productive use of this public land. \nThe arguments in support of this project will be presented to the meeting on 18 September.

SUMMARY:Bernie’s Biolink from Greens Bush to Arthurs Seat Community Planting day
DESCRIPTION:We welcome the community to join us for a Main Creek Catchment Landcare Group (MCCLG) planting day on Saturday the 6th of August in Main Ridge. This planting day contributes to Bernie’s Biolink from Greens Bush to Arthurs Seat\, an ongoing project that improves catchment health and farm productivity and addresses the lack of landscape connectivity between two significant areas of remnant vegetation. \nThrough revegetation and weeding and fencing of remnants\, a biolink is being created across private property in the project area\, benefiting numerous threatened fauna including Powerful owls and Swamp skinks. \nTo date\, revegetation has been undertaken on numerous properties throughout the biolink zone in partnership with local primary and secondary schools\, tertiary institutions\, Scouts and Girl Guides Australia and the wider community. \nWe are reaching out to the community to help plant the last 500 plants for 2025. \nWhat to bring: BYO hat\, reusable water bottle\, gloves\, and weather appropriate clothes. \nLandcare will supply all other tools and equipment for tree planting. \nWhere: 160 Main Creek Road\, Main Ridge\, 3928\nWhen: Saturday 6th September 2025\nTime: 10.00 – 12.30pm: introductions\, training and planting \nPlease RSVP by Thursday the 4th September to thomas@regeneratingfarms.com.au or\ncall Thomas Kennett on 0499 596 493 with any questions. \nBernie’s Biolink work is supported by The Natural Resource Conservation Trust. \nPlease do not attend if you are unwell.
