SUMMARY:Picnic for Arthurs Seat (Wonga)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community picnic at Arthurs Seat — a peaceful\, positive gathering to celebrate and protect this much-loved place. \nWe haven’t had many updates on the Arthurs Seat Eagle expansion\, but here’s what we do know: \n\nThe Department of Transport and Planning has received a response from Arthurs Seat Eagle to its Request for Further Information\, but has not yet decided whether the response is satisfactory. This assessment is expected to be completed within the next week.\n\nIf the Department confirms that all required information has been provided\, the Minister for Planning will then begin the process of directing the applicant to give public notice of the proposal. \n\n🛞 A metal-caged bridge is planned along Arthurs Seat Road for the luge track\, and\n🏗️ The tower has shot up — now proposed to be 34 metres high!\n\nBring your picnic\, friends\, kids and questions. \nThere’ll be BBQs\, speakers\, music\, maps\, plans and plenty of local spirit. \nLet’s show the Minister\, Parks Victoria\, and the world that we don’t need thrill rides to love Wonga (Arthurs Seat) — we just need to keep it natural\, shared and cared for. \n🗓 Sunday 9 November\n📍 Arthurs Seat – Public BBQ Shelters\n⏰ 2–4 PM\n💚 Hosted by Save Our Seat \nin Collaboration with the Victorian National Parks Association. \nANY questions or comments – please send to saveourseat2024@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Managing Blackberry and other Weeds - Talk and Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Talking to us is Dr Robin Adair\, a Victorian Blackberry Taskforce member\, who will discuss blackberry management on farms and the latest blackberry policy and news\, as well as provide a demonstration of spray techniques (using water) and using drones. We also have Anton Vigenser\, the Operations Manager from Seeds\, who will be talking about a range of other priority weeds on farms and recommended management approaches. This talk is relevant to all farmers as well as urban interface landholders and owners of bush blocks. \nManaging blackberry is long-term and cannot be achieved by one-off strategies\, particularly for larger infestations. The three main management options available for blackberry include physical control\, biological control and herbicides. The VBT is committed to working with communities and partner agencies to reduce the growth and spread of blackberry in Victoria. \nAlong with blackberry are a wide range of invasive weeds that land managers must be aware of and manage accordingly\, including Thistles\, Cape Weed\, Ragwort\, Gorse\, Pittosporums and Karamu. Seeds is a specialist bushland restoration company with extensive expertise and experience in weed management on farms and ecosystem reconstruction techniques. \nFor all event information\, please see the attached flyer or this email. \nWhere:              Tanglewood Estate\, 60 Bulldog Creek Rd\, Dromana (parking onsite) \nWhen:               Saturday 4th October 2025\nTime:                 9.30am – 10.00am: arrivals\, coffee/tea and introductions\n10.00am – 12.45pm: talks and demonstration followed by a light lunch \nTea\, coffee and a light lunch will be provided (let me know of any food allergies). SUMMARY:Blairgowrie Friends of MPNP - Sorrento Environment Circle
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 18 September at 5pm we are presenting to the Sorrento Environment Circle (Sorrento RSL\, Hurley St) on the reasons why the never-will-be-built MP Freeway extension land between Boneo and Canterbury Jetty Roads should be given back to the community so that we can turn it into a new Peninsula Biolink and a gravel walking and cycling path. \nWe are very keen to build broad community support for this project\, which is long overdue and would be a far better and more productive use of this public land. \nThe arguments in support of this project will be presented to the meeting on 18 September.
