SUMMARY:Balcombe & Moorooduc Landcare Biolink Working Bee
DESCRIPTION:Our next B&M Landcare Activity is a farm visit and working bee on Sunday morning 20th November 10 am to 1.30pm. \nWe will be guests on a beautiful 120-acre property in the hills just South of the Briars at 105 Range Rd\, Mt Martha. \nThe owners\, Barry and Lynne Fitzpatrick\, are keen to restore parts of the original natural environment there. They are one of several properties creating a biolink to connect wildlife to surrounding properties within our catchment. \nAfter a walk and talk with the farm manager Brad Campbell\, our working bee (for those able/interested) will focus on removing boneseed and pittosporum within some bushland surrounding an existing water body\, which links into greater catchment of property. \nWe hope you can make it\, including to the free BBQ and enjoy the experience helping regenerate the natural environment. \nRSVP to me (bmlgcommittee@gmail.com) by Friday 18th Nov for catering purposes. \nTony O’Connor\nPresident Balcombe and Moorooduc Landcare Group\n0404 951 500 \nBMLG Working Bee – Range Rd – 20 November 2022

SUMMARY:Farm Revegetation for Biodiversity\, Productivity and Climate resilience
DESCRIPTION:Landcare\, with support from Mornington Peninsula Shire\, DELWP\, and private donations\, is working with the Grow Corp Foundation to develop a demonstration “Whole of Farm” approach to revegetation on private property. This approach integrates shelterbelts\, riparian corridors\, and selective bush patches in a manner that: enhances the environment through improved biodiversity\, protects water quality\, and contributes to the major biolink between Greens Bush and Arthurs Seat. Direct farm benefits include improved productivity and climate resiliency. \nThe revegetation stage is nearing completion and we are conducting a session of short talks\, discussions\, and tours of the revegetated areas to outline the process and answer questions on the benefits. \nSpeakers: \n\nClayton Fenech\, Mornington Peninsula Shire – Biodiversity\nChantal Morton\, Landcare Facilitator – Biolinks\nGrow Corp Foundation – Owners Perspective\nGreg Holland\, Main Creek Catchment Landcare – Whole of Farm Planning and Climate Resilience.\n\nTalks and discussion 1000-1130am\, then a farm tour followed by a light lunch and continued informal discussions. \nFree event. SUMMARY:Dunns Creek Landcare Community working bee and BBQ
DESCRIPTION:Community working bee and BBQ  (We’re back from Covid restrictions)\nHarrisons Road\, Dromana\nSATURDAY 16 July 2022 8.30am onwards \n\n\n\n\nWHAT?\n\nAnnual Community working bee & BBQ to undertake weed control works in the Harrisons Road – Road Reserve. Plus\, this year: planting some native tube trees and shrubs \n \n\n\n\nWHY?\n\nThe road reserve on Harrisons Road\, Dromana contains some of the best examples of remnant vegetation on the Mornington Peninsula.  As well as containing important habitat for many of our native species\, remnant vegetation on this road reserve provides essential links to other areas including Dromana Bushland Reserve\, Bald Hill and Arthurs Seat State Park. These links are essential for the ongoing conservation of biodiversity on the Mornington Peninsula. In addition\, the vegetation supports birds that eat the insects that attack our pastures. \n \n\n\n\nWHEN?\n\nSaturday 16th July 8.30am until lunch. Meet in the Dromana Secondary College southern carpark. Come for just an hour if that’s all you have – that’s still great. \n \n\n\n\nWHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?\n\n1] Satisfaction that you have helped to maintain a weed free habitat for our native plants and animals. You’ve protected our environment. \n2] To have a laugh and a yarn with fun people. \n3] Pick up tips about our native vegetation and eradication of weeds from local experts. \n4] Turn up and be eligible for a free bird nesting box\, worth $60 \n5] Enjoy a good BBQ after our working bee\, commencing around 1pm\, meet and greet your neighbours from the district\, relax\, chat about your experiences. \nDunns Creek Landcare provides: Morning tea\, coffee and juice with freshly baked goods. BBQ of sausages\, lamb cutlets\, tomato sauce\, bread\, salads & fruit!   BYO: other food and drink of your choice. \n \n\n\n\nWHAT DO I DO NOW?\n\nRSVP:  to let us know you can join us\, to give us an idea of numbers for food:   Email:  dunnscreeklandcare@gmail.com   SMS: 0417 564 599 \nIf you have other commitments that morning\, just come for lunch to meet your neighbours. You’re welcome. \n \n\n\n\nANYTHING ELSE?\n\n\n1] The BBQ. If you would like to assist with this instead of the working bee\, please contact as above. \n2] Bring gloves\, hat\, boots\, name badge\, teenagers and enthusiasm. We’ll have secateurs\, dabbers etc. If you have a favourite implement – bring it. \n \n\n\n\nDUNNS CREEK LANDCARE – \nPROMOTING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE & LAND USE ON THE PENINSULA
