SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:If your organisation is one of the many environmental groups and networks trying to understand the recent changes to income tax reporting for not-for-profits\, or your role involves supporting landcare organisations through this issue\, please read on. \nWith funding from the Department of Energy\, Environment and Climate Change (DEECA)\, Landcare Victoria Inc is assisting Victorian landcare organisations to respond to the changes and meet their obligations. This includes delivering information sessions and webinars\, developing written resources\, and providing support directly to the groups and networks who need it. \nLandcare Victoria Inc. have created a dedicated webpage where information and resources will be published as they become available\, which you can visit at https://landcarevictoria.org.au/taxsupport. \n\n\n\nWEBINAR: 15 OCTOBER\n\n\n\nFollowing on from our first successful webinar on income tax for environmental organisations\, held in May with the Australian Charities & Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC)\, Landcare Victoria will present another webinar on Tuesday 15 October at 5:30pm. In case you missed the first one\, you can click here to watch the recording. \nIn the upcoming webinar\, we will go through the income tax issue in detail to explain the impact on landcare organisations and what they need to do to be endorsed as income tax exempt\, answer some common questions and provide the latest updates. More information coming soon. \nSeptember 2024 – Support now available for Victorian environmental organisations \n\n\n\n\nDrop-In Information Sessions (online) \nFor an overview of the income tax reporting issue and guidance on the paths environmental volunteering organisations can take to ensure compliance\, please join Amanda Grace from Landcare Victoria Inc at one of our scheduled Drop-In Information Sessions.\n\n\nThese are small-scale webinars where you can learn more about income tax for not-for-profit organisations\, how to determine if the ATO’s new reporting requirements affect your group/network\, and what your options are regarding accessing an income tax exemption. Get up to speed now so you can start taking action! \nBook to attend an Information Session via SimplyBook.me! \nIf a suitable time is not available\, please check back soon.\n\n\n\nOne-on-One Support (online) \nIf you’ve already looked through Landcare Victoria’s written resources and you’re feeling overwhelmed\, lost or confused\, please book a One-on-One Support session.\n\n\n In these appointments\, Amanda will sit down with you and help you to assess your organisation’s income tax status and the steps you need to take to be endorsed as income tax exempt\, or to understand what your organisation’s obligations will be if you choose not to seek endorsement. One-on-One Support sessions are also useful for organisations that have determined they should register as a charity but need some help preparing their application. \nAmanda can provide guidance on: \n\nnot-for-profit tax rates and thresholds\,\ndetermining your organisation’s eligibility for charity registration\,\nchecking and updating ABN registration details\,\nreviewing or writing purposes/objects and determining whether or not these are considered ‘charitable’\,\ndeciding to incorporate or remain unincorporated\,\ngoverning document (rules) templates and writing your own rules\,\nbackdating charity registration and/or tax concessions\, and more!\n\nSchedule a One-on-One Support session via SimplyBook.me! \nIf a suitable time is not available\, please check back soon.\n\n\nIn-person presentations and support \nIf you represent a landcare network\, a coalition of multiple networks\, or a Victorian catchment region and you’d like to explore the possibility of in-person support for the groups in your area\, please get in touch. While it is not realistic to set up face-to-face meetings with hundreds of groups individually\, some of our team may be able to visit your region to present information and provide support to multiple groups/networks in a single visit. \nContact Amanda Grace via info@landcarevictoria.org.au or call 03 9034 1941 to discuss.

SUMMARY:Working Bee at Bernie's - Main Creek Landcare
DESCRIPTION:The Landcare group is holding a working bee at the Schedvin property on Sunday October 6th at 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. \nAs you know\, Bernie Schedvin\, Main Creek Catchment Landcare Group’s guide\, secretary and newsletter editor for many years\, passed away last year. \nUnfortunately\, in the past months Pittosporum undulatum has made significant inroads into a section of the previously weed-free bushland on the Schedvin property. \nThis working bee is to remove as much of this weed as possible\, so that the area can be managed into the future by a contractor. \nIf you can spare any time on Sunday October 6th\, we’d love to see you. If you can come\, please contact me for the property details. \nThis is one small way we can support Bernie’s vision for the environment of the Peninsula. \nWith many thanks for any help you can offer\, \nAdie Smith \nSecretary\, Main Creek Catchment Landcare Group\n0438 877 780
