DESCRIPTION:Invasive pest animals are a big problem impacting on biodiversity and catchment assets and farm productivity on the Mornington Peninsula. SUMMARY:The Bradley Method of Sensitive Weed Control
DESCRIPTION:Joan and Eileen Bradley developed a series of weed control and native vegetation recovery techniques know as the ‘Bradley method’. It involves methodically clearing small areas in and around healthy native vegetation so that each area is re-colonised by the regeneration of native plants\, replacing the weeds. It’s in the Arthurs Seat State Park \nDate: 5th May 2024 \nTime: 9:30 – 11:30 \nPlace: Meet at Mark and Michelle’s 451 Arthurs Seat Rd\, Red Hill 3937. \nPlease drive in through the gate and park on the grass or down the driveway. There is also some room on the front nature strip. We will walk from our house\, across the road and down the hill into the state park. Please be careful as it’s on an 80km/h road on a blind corner. \nWe would also like to show you a section on our property that we fenced off during covid lockdown in 2020. Drive right down the driveway and park on the left of the house. \nYou are welcome to stay for morning tea afterwards – please bring something to share. \nWe worked on this property as a Landcare group in 2015 as part of the Sheepwash Creek Biolink project. It is wonderful to see how little weed regrowth has occurred in that section. Some of us will work there. There is another section that has a lot of Pittosporum and some of us will work in this section. There is a section with a lot of blackberries but it’s not the time of the year to spray so we might plan to tackle that another time. \nIt is a steep property and the area we’re working is right down the bottom (Sharon has a gator to help bring us down the hill and back up).\nPlease wear sturdy footwear and protective clothing and bring some water with you. \nEnquiries Michelle de la Coeur: 0419579277
